Day 27: It's hot
Actually temperatures this morning were still ok. But I needed some time to find the motivation to get started. At 10:00 I finally (after a simple but "continental" breakfast) got on the road. After leaving Pleven I was on a nice, small road without much traffic. Therefore I started my "siesta" early before getting onto road 11 along the Danube.
Starting again temperatures had risen a lot. When going uphill I only cycled a few hundred meters before pausing in the shadow of the next tree again. Luckily road 11 turned out to be an even less frequented road and I could take my time without blocking any traffic. Here I also joined the EuroVelo 6 route which I will follow for some time. This makes navigation a lot easier, since BRouter is still doing strange routings and time estimates. In Ostrov the roads were already very steep (once my back wheel lost grip on some perfectly normal tarmac when going uphill and downhill I was a bit afraid of my brakes not being able to handle the load) but BRouter wanted to send me to some gravel side streets with a grade of 20%, which I neither can nor want to cycle.
Temperatures only got better around 16:00 and I could cycle without pausing all the time (apart from going up some hills) and I was able to spot the Danube for the first time again.
I ended up in Orjachowo after 84km. Which is short compared to other days, but from my point of view perfectly ok given the current circumstances.
The next interesting city seems to be "Widin" with castle "Baba Wida", but 130km is probably to much for a single day since tomorrow will still be hotter than today.
