Day 3: Geisterschlucht am Schwielochsee

Yeah, sorry, the title sounds like there is something exciting here. But I have seen neither ghosts nor any gorge. I have no idea how they came up with the name.

Still the area around here is quite nice. Lots of nice lakes where you swim or canoe  Today I have to walk 150m to the lake. Though this is clearly a downgrade from yesterdays 5m, it is still quite nice.

But the day did not start this way. Already yesterday I had noticed a sound from one of the wheels (not sure which, since with encased wheels it is always hard to find out where the sound is coming from). A quick check did not turn up anything. After the problem did disappear over night I decided to check more carefull. And found that the rear wheel had been rubbing against the encasement. The inner structure was already visible.

Without any weight the wheel turned without any issues, but when cycling the sound came back. I tried changing the tyre to a thinner model and increasing the pressure in the suspension. Henning from Velomobile Ottersberg tried his best to support me from remote (thanks a lot). But in the end it was all to no avail.

Short of giving up I decided to continue cycling and check the tyre regulary. The sound was still there, but the thinner tyre seemed to be ok.

After 80km the tyre still shows no signs of damage. So I now hope, that the sound is completely unrelated and harmless and that the issue with the tyre is solved.

The day was very much like a debugging session. This is not what I wanted to do, when taking some time away from software development ;).

Let's hope the next days are less eventful in this regard.
