Day 37: Sarajevo to Mostar
After breakfast I started with a walk through Sarajevo this morning. From the yellow fortress you have a great view of the city.
After that I said good bye to the hotel (if you want to stay in Sarajevo hotel Vamos is a really good choice. Centrally located but quiet, nice rooms and the owners a extraordinary friendly and helpful).
I was a bit afraid of the way out of Sarajevo (multi lane roads with tram tracks where you can get stuck in with a tire) but that part was easy. But when I got nearer to the road to Mostar I ended up on a motor road once again. It just suddenly started without any chance to choose a different route. So I left to the side accross the gras and made a (hilly) detour to the next road only to find out, that the motor road part was only 500 m. Had I known this I probably would have continued on the road.
After that I had to climb 400 m of height. The grade was not that high, but still I had to take some breaks. Also all of todays route was on a large road, so I was always in traffic. After getting to the peak the tour more and more scenic.

Jablaničko jezero. There were nicer parts, but I could not stop there. |
The best part started about 40 km from Mostar:

Arriving in Mostar I relaxed for an hour and then did a quick walk of the old city (it is getting dark at 20:00 here, so most days I don't have much time for sightseeing since I always need some time to recover from cycling).
Mostar has some modern buildings side by side with ruins that look like they should be demolished.
The old part of the city with the famous bridge is quite picturesque and busy with restaurants, shops and cafes.
Very many impression in a single day :)
Tomorrow I will continue to Croatia and the mediterranian sea where I will follow EuroVelo 8.
