Day 44: Unexpected short tour

Cycling today was hard work. My impression was that I was climbing all the time without getting any higher up. Which was frustrating. Also there was no wind and temperatures rose up to 37°, which led to two stops for buying more water. Until a few kilometers south of Opatija I had also to cycle in sometimes very dense traffic.

Opatija seems to be the place to go if you have money. At least a few high class hotels were there. Also some nice buildings from the start of the last century. But still it's not the place I like to be in and the whole town was one single traffic jam.

The views back to the mainland and to the islands are still beautiful, even if it is sometimes hard to appreciate the view when fighting some ascent ;)

I ended up on some very nice small camp site in Kapelica. Looking at the stats for today I climbed more in todays 90 km than in yesterdays 140 km (which included some real mountains). So the feeling of going uphill all the time was probably right.

It looks like tomorrow will be a little bit better and the temperatures should also start to fall (tuesday is to be the first day with below 30° maximum temperatures).
