Day 45: Continuing North

Today I confirmed that my gear shift is not limited any more. If I shift lower than the first gear the chain just falls behind the cassette. So I have to know which gear I am in to not do this. This is surprisingly hard, since the gears feel different when you are tired and it is not always easy to judge the ascent of a road. I'll have to look into this eventually.

After another gravel road I decided to cycle the main D75 road instead of the EuroVelo. This makes progress much easier. But after Funtana there was a part that was really perfect:

Directly at the sea, flat, good tarmac.

In Novigrad I was really exhausted and it was much to hot, so I jumped into the sea to cool a bit down (although the water is not warm, that this only helps a little).

The smaller camp site I had picked to stay today, did not like cyclists:

I have no idea what issue they have. But the previous camp site was only a few hundred meters back so I went there.

The slowenian border is now only a few kilometers away and after a further 45 km of cycling I will enter Italy. I haven't crossed a border for some time and now 2 in a single day. So let's see how that works out :)
