Day 51: Leaving the adriatic coast
The first task this morning was leaving the camp site. This is, what the reception area looked like at 8:15 :
I have never seen so many people at a reception. And most of them were arriving so early in the morning. But checking out was faster than I had feared after seeing all these people. After getting clear of Rosalina Mare I turned from the mainstreet onto the small street leading through the Po delta.
Almost all day I was on very small roads or dedicated cycling paths. This was really relaxing. Allthough there were a lot of potholes at times.
Cycling through the Po delta you are always surounded by water, but it is most of the time small water bodies (not large areas like it is displayed on many maps). Todays ferry was even smaller than yesterday, but my velomobile still fit:
Temperatures had already been warm in the morning, but got up to 31° with a lot of humidity and no wind at all later in the day.
For most of the day I then cycled along the river itself. Often you could not see it because of the riparian forests surounding it:
I only left the river to cycle through Ferrara. This is a nice small city which had the disadvantage, that after spending time in Venice most other cities appear to be quite ordinary in comparison. The owner of the hotel in Venice had already told me, that Ferrara is a cycling city. They really have a lot of cycling paths and two people I met even knew what a velomobile is.
