Day 13: Short trip to Reghin
I am now only about 8km from Velomobile World. So tomorrow morning I will definitly make it there and hopefully all issues will be fixed. It is a small wonder I did not have a single flat tire during the last 1750km. The Schwalbe Kojak is a racing tire and not really build for the rough roads covered in all sorts of debris and glass I'm using it on (when "manually" reverting I actually punctured one of my fingers with a piece of glass). Still I'm going to change it tomorrow.
After leaving Dej and spending some time on larger roads (which was kind of ok, since most of the time I could cycle the hard shoulder), I turned onto road 154 which led me through some beautiful scenery.
My initial plan was to make it to Aserbaidschan in one month. Since "Winter is coming" and at some point I won't be able to cycle through Russia. But currently it does not look like I will be able to enter Russia or Aserbaidschan, since both borders are still closed to me. And the delta variant does not make it more likely that this will change. So instead of repeating the mantra "Winter is coming" again and again, while it might not even be of any relevance to the future story line, I guess I can spend some more time on the way to the border.
After tomorrow I will then have to decide where to go next. Salina Turda seems to be interesting, but is a bit of the path. Sibiu is probably a must see and later I'll have to decide if I want to cycle Transfăgărășan or visit Bran Castle. Also some of the fortified churches seem to be very nice. We'll see :) But first the bike has to be fixed.
LG I. und G.
