Day 20/21: Constanta

Yesterday morning I had planned to go swimming before breakfast, since I was staying at a touristy hotel beside a lake with a pool.

But despite one Romanian telling me a few days ago that Romania is so much nicer than Germany, because there are not so many rules and you can just do things, in this case everything was "verboten". Swimming in the lake always and swimming in the pool outside the designated hours without supervision as well. So I just had breakfast and started by tour.

The first part was nice and flat. Not very interesting, but I made some progress. Then it started to get really hot and humid and I had to cycle on a big road crossing the Danube. Unfortunatly I could not see anything from the bridge since the crash barrier was blocking my view. After the bridge there was a toll station, but crossing the bridge is free for bikes :)

At some I was able to get onto a smaller road that kind of followed the Danube. But this was  very hilly terrain with lots of ascents and descents. Those took their toll in the heat and I had to stop frequently. In the evening things got a little better. 30km before Constanta I had used up all my water and had to stop to buy some drink.

For finishing the trip I ended on a three lane road with many roundabouts. All the time accelerating and breaking again and trying to focus on all the cars around me. I was very happy when I could end the journey at my hotel. In the evening I was the in a crowd for te first time in years. The beach promenade was packed. A strange feeling after all this time.

Today I got an omelette for breakfast for a change and then walked towards the center of the city. When it got too hot, I decided to return using the cable car which runs along the beach.

A very fun way to travel if it weren't for my slight fear of heights and a quite strong wind.
After returning to the hotel I spend the day relaxing and sleeping. In the evening there finally was some rain and the temperatures dropped a little bit.
