Day 45: Slow and hot

Again not a lot of progress today. High temperatures and bad roads were the main culprits today. I am not sure why the temperatures currently affect me so much more than before. Probably it is a combination of higher humidity and staying on camp sites where the hot nights leave less chance to recover. Currently it is often hard to enjoy cycling because of this.

The section today had only one climb which was a bit exhausting but still ok. When I got to the top suddenly my chain repeatedly "jumped" accross the first gear and fell behind the cassette. I have no idea why this suddenly happened. After fighting it for some time suddenly it worked again. The problem with a velomobile is, that you cannot really see what is happening when you are in the bike and you cannot pedal when you are outside of the bike. Also standing in the heat exhausted from the climb is not the best time for an in depth analysis. So I was happy when everything was back to normal.

Later I got onto a gravel track again. For a gravel track it was ok, but I wonder why they route the EuroVelo 8 this way. There was nothing to see but bushes covered in dust on both sides.

The next part also includes some "non-road" sections. But there does not seem a way around this. Let's see what these look like in reality.
